The Estibot Domain Development Guide (40+ page eBook) is here and it’s completely FREE to download.
Some time ago I wrote a blog series on domain development. By popular request (both of my blog readers requested it) I expanded the scope and turned it into an eBook. The eBook is now ready, a 40-page guide to monetizing domain names through development. It covers both beginner and advanced strategies, keyword analysis, domain name selection, etc.. and best of all it’s completely free of charge (and comes with redistribution rights).
You can download it here: Domain Development Guide (PDF)
Here is the list of topics covered:
1. Recommended resources for the domain developer
2. No More Mr. Nice Guy: Trim Your Portfolio
3. Minisite development
4. Development Strategy for Keyword Domain Names
–>Case Studies
5. Affiliate e-commerce stores
6. Getting Serious About Development
7. Benefits of Domain Development
–>Search Engine Rankings
–>Increase in Domain Name Awareness and Value
–>Gauging the market and creating business contacts
8. Revenue Expectation
9. Scalability Strategies and Bulk Development
10. SEO
11. Transforming your Domain Name from a Minisite to a Bona Fide Business
I hope you enjoy the guide. Please send me some feedback once you’ve read it.
Thanks,
-Esa

I think this is a wise move and let a big geo owner and development team do this right imo. Having a geo owner, domainer and developer only will make this more of a success and gain traction. No offense to your other web guy on burbank.com but it sounded like a pain to manage. He did a wonderful job on your dog site.

I just finished reading your book. It has a lot of helpful tips and information. It looks like I have to go back to the drawing board and thin the herd with my domains so I can focus on my good names. Your site examples, especially neon sunglasses, are very attractive and well organized. I plan to purchase a few of the services/plugins you linked to. Can you recommend any good domain development services? Thanks for the information.

Pete: I used Pages (Mac), then just exported to PDF. It’s just a fancy word processing software.

A good read, for sure. Looks like I’m on the right track with my minisite and affiliate site development projects, just started 2 weeks ago. Good reminders in your ebook, and some new ideas too. Thanks for making this freely available to those of us who are still weeding out our portfolios.

for the site you used as an example in the pdf.
what you can do is link somewhere on your page to a developed hupage selling organizers from amazon,cj or Ebay.. ex. the closet organzer can link to a page set up on hubpages.. use your links from your site as your tags.

I skimmed through your book, and it’s more about parking domains! I think parking domains for a maximum of 0.5 dollars per day (in case you are lucky) is a bad habit!
There are many many good domains out there, parked, hardly making any money, which could be used by other people to make cool applications not necessarily commercial, but good ones! But the owner simply has parked it and has a made an ugly application out of a good name, without even deciding to sell it at a reasonable price!

Alex, you did not read the PDF. It advices *against* parking domains: “parking just doesn’t work” (page 7)…
